- To the users of FetchRefs! (if any are left :-/ )
-
- I am sorry to inform you that development of FetchRefs has been
- discontinued. I had planned to make at least one more version of
- FetchRefs, especially because I have some reports of FetchRefs 1.2 not
- performing too well (i.e. it crashes badly) with '040s with some cache
- enabled.
-
- Unfortunately, my Amiga died a terrible death recently. I see no point
- in developing FetchRefs when I do not even have an Amiga anymore (and
- buying a new one is definately out of the question, I bought a PC just a
- few days before my Amiga died).
-
- I have, luckily, been able (with some help (thanks)) to recover
- hopefully all data from my Amiga harddisk. I am therefore able to offer
- the current source tree to anyone who might be interested in getting
- FetchRefs somewhat further.
-
- While I *have* developed FetchRefs somewhat since the latest (1.2)
- release, I have not yet completed it enough to justify a new release (a
- few bugs would be gone but some ARexx scripts would be wrong, and so on,
- and so on). As I basically only believe in complete releases, I hope
- that someone will take it upon himself (or, better, herself :-) to
- finish at least one more version.
-
- It is probably worth mentioning that I have converted the source to
- compile with SAS/C (previously released versions were for DICE). I also
- have a TODO list to help getting a future maintainer going.
-
- If no-one volunteers for the job, this is the end of FetchRefs. Thanks
- to everyone who has sent me suggestions or bug reports. I have really
- appreciated it and I hope that one of you will carry FetchRefs on.
- *Someone* has to develop for the Amiga, you know! Otherwise it could
- easily die! :-/. Please e-mail me if you have any interest in this
- whatsoever. Thanks.
-
- My time with the Amiga has been just wonderful. Counting the years, I
- get to the conclusion that half of my 20 years I have lived in house
- with an Amiga and naturally it has made an impact on me. The Amiga
- really is a marvellous machine and I am honestly extremely sad that I am
- no longer an Amiga user. Saying goodbye to someone you love is the
- hardest thing to do. My next programming project will probably be a
- Boing! ball screen blanker for Linux.
-
-
- Happy computing,
-
- Anders (and@kampsax.dtu.dk)
